No, they are independent and are licensed by the Construction Industry Council to provide an independent service. How do the fees compare? TBC's fees are equivalent to that of the local authority on smaller projects, but fee savings may be available on larger projects. |
How quickly do TBC respond to applications? We aim to reply to applications within 5 working days. How much notice is required to make an application to TBC? A minimum of 5 working days is required to issue and have accepted the initial notice to the local authority. However, the earlier the application is made the better. Do the local authority have any involvement in the project? No, as long as the initial notice is still in force. What geographical area do TBC cover? We are currently providing the building control function in South Wales and the Bristol area. Projects outside this area will be dealt with by this office and our network of delegated inspectors will provide site inspection cover. The Bath office provides building control in the Bath and North East Somerset area, including surrounding districts. |
